Residents of Durham Region Celebrate World Religion Day
The Durham MultiFaith World Religion Day Committee hosts annual celebrations of World Religion Day on the third Sunday of every January. This is an event that was inaugurated in 1950 and is now celebrated worldwide. Its goal is one of fostering the establishment of interfaith understanding and harmony by emphasizing the common denominators underlying the world’s great religions.
The goal of the MultiFaith World Religion Day Committee of Durham Region is to bring all faiths together; not only to raise awareness of the world’s religions, to find the similarity between our faiths, but also to work together to increase cross-cultural understanding, to strengthen our commitment to mutual respect for each other, and contribute to the maintenance of harmony and order in the Durham Region.
